Research Front 4 (RF4) addresses the question of the architectures for integration and valorization of locally produced energy. Thus, a global smart energy system cannot be achieved without innovation, from the level of components to the level of the global architecture, at which new engineering systems and intermediary organizations between buildings and large networks must be explored. This involves all the actors, from inhabitants and employees to companies and local authorities in investment, in the production and management of energy. Thus, this is a highly complex problematic involving multi-disciplinary engineering and sciences.
Addressed topics are:
- Management rules for inter-operability and security of the critical energy systems
- Innovative components for storage at the level of energy system, e.g. power to gas systems using hydrogen, fuel cells, hydrogen storage means, etc. (with Research Front 5)
- Power electronic components for managing distributed resources
- First architectures of networks: localization and distribution of resources, new schemes between AC and DC distribution schemes, new schemes for valorization of fatal heat, etc. (with Research Front 3)
- Deployment and management of smart energy systems: compromise between autonomy and connection according social, economic and territorial regards, etc. (with Research Front 2 and Research Front 3)
